Louise Nevelson – Sky Cathedral
Our guide first asked us what our first impressions were when we saw this artwork. I told her I felt like this artwork was made with burnt objects. Louise used everyday objects that she found in her Manhattan home and painted them all black. She said they were all black because it means “totality.” She named it “Sky Cathedral” and reminds me of cathedrals’ stained glasses. The color doesn’t resemble stained glass at all but the collage is.
