15 Years Old Bathroom DIY Renovation of A Manhattan Condo – Part 3: Thassos Marble Mosaic Tile and Ikea Mirror Medicine Cabinet

Next step of my bathroom project was adding the big and lighted mirror medicine cabinets and the mosaic tiles that match my kitchen backsplash. I also wanted to install an exhaust fan ventilator so my bathroom can have better air circulation.

1. I took down everything and got ready for tiling the mosaic.
2. I liked to layout the tiles first so I can decide which mosaic tile should be placed where. Every unit of marble mosaic tiles is unique and how the tiles are placed makes the entire wall look different.
3. I also liked to mark each tile’s location so I had an idea how many units I need.
4. For this kind of tiles, I liked to start from the bottom and worked all the way up.
5. It came up nicely when it was half way through!
6. It made it to the tope and there were tapes to help fasten the tiles so they would not slide down.
7. The grout color was platinum. It goes really well with grey and white marbles.
8. The Exhaust Fan Ventilator needed some work so it can be controlled by the switch of the lighted cabinet.
9. The Exhaust Fan Ventilator and the lighting of the cabinet were wired together.
10. Pre-cut hole for organizing the wires later.
11. The hole to access the wires from the outlet.
12. We have serious draft issue so insulating the old cabinet’s socket was necessary.
13. Both cabinets were installed and wiring will be the next.
14. Testing if the wiring was completed.
15. Attached the doors.
16. Installing the shelf brackets.
17. The cabinet was great! Many glass shelves. Much more storage.
